Socks Whitmore (they/them/theirs) is a Los Angeles-based actor-singer, lyricist-composer, and writer. Though their work includes poetry, playwriting, choral music, and games, they are happiest working in the world of new and socially conscious musical theatre and voice over, especially in pieces related to mental health and gender. Current projects include work as a trans/queer consultant on multiple musical projects, workshopping their queer one act musical in development, Pass: A Coming of Self Musical, and producing and starring as the titular character of Georgie Romero Is Done For, a horror-comedy fiction podcast.     We Are Here: The Musical

    September 2018 - February 2019

    We Are Here is a full-length musical written, and composed by Evan Johnson and Socks Whitmore. The story follows a high school guidance counselor and four students that she works with, discussing themes of community, self, care and mental health in schools. Drawing from interviews and discussion groups conducted over the course of a year, the show aims to break down stigmas surrounding these topics. We Are Here had its workshop premiere on February 2nd, 2019 in the Wild Beast Concert Hall at CalArts and went on to win New Musical Inc.’s 2019 New Voices Project. less

When Jacob\’s estranged sister Ashley asks him to reprise a role from his past, the two must come to terms with their relationship to his younger \’female\’ self in order to save their own.
